The census in the US has been
taken every 10 years since 1790. The 1790-1840 schedules give only
the name and the head of the household-other family members are listed, unnamed,
by age and sex. In the 1850-1860 schedules, slave owners are listed
along with the age, sex, and color of each slave but not the name. From
1850-1900, the schedules include the name, age and state, territory or county
of birth of each free person in the household. A fire destroyed nearly
all records of 1890, some records are still avail. for this year, but limited.

Most states required birth and death certificates around 1890-1915.
To find death certificates prior to this date, you would need to contact
the County Courthouse, Church, or Family Bibles.
Most Deeds and Wills are found at the local County
Courthouse.
Census-United States Census has been taken every 10 years since
1790. The 1790-1840 gives only the Heads of the Household. The
1850-1860 Census lists the slave owners and the age, sex and color (but not
name) of each slave.
Land Records (1800-1974) include bounty-land-warrant files, donation
land, entry files, homestead application files and private purchase land.
There are no land records for the original 13 states and Maine, Vermont,
West Virginia, Kentucky, Tenn., Texas, and Hawaii.
Ship Passenger List--National Archives has incomplete lists, beginning
in the 1820's. From Baltimore (1820-1948), Boston (1820-1874; 1883-1943),
Galveston (1896-1948), New Orleans (1820-1945), New York (1820-1954),
Philadelphia (1800-1945), San Francisco (1893-1953), Seattle (1890-1957).
Lists normally contain the passenger name, age, sex, occupation, country
of embarkation, and country of destinations.
